Sports-Link started by David G.
Evans and John Leung of Queen Street Christian Centre, Chester. The principal activity was
5-a-side football played on Thursday evenings in the gym at RAF Sealand.
October
Football activity changed to
Saturday mornings at Hoole Coronation Playing Fields.

March
Football activity changed to
Monday evenings on the newly opened ‘Floodlit Astroturf’ pitch
at Upton Recreation Centre (Cheshire County Sports Club).
April
First 11-a-side match under the
name of Crossway Dynamos FC the match was played against a team from RAF
Sealand, Crossway won 6 v 5.

October
A new era with a changed of
name to Crossway FC plus a new kit, sky blue and white striped shirts, black
shorts, white socks. Continue playing ‘friendly matches’. Home
ground was Westminster Park Recreation Centre.

May
First Charity Football
Tournament held - the venue was Astroturf pitch at Upton Recreation Centre.
£100 was raised for the local hospital radio station ‘Radio
Lion’.

Ian ‘Moogie’ Dykes
replaced David G. Evans as Crossway FC Team Manager.
Hoole Baptist Church partner with Queen Street Christian Centre in
the running of Crossway FC.
August
Crossway FC join the Chris
Courtney-Williams sponsored Division 2 of the Chester & District
Saturday League. New kit, purple shirts, white shorts and socks. The 1st
League match was played away against Elton Wheelwright. Crossway lost 6 v.
5 the Crossway goal scorers were Darren Ankers (2), Duncan Bell (2), and
Martin Hill.

Crossway FC
end their
1st season in 11th place (2nd from bottom).
Waverton Evangelical Fellowship
joined Queen Street Christian Centre and Hoole Baptist
Church in the running
of Crossway FC.

April
Promoted to the Olympic
Trophies sponsored Division 1.
August
New kit, purple and white hoop
shirts, white shorts and socks.
Rob Tabb takes over as Team
Manager. Change of home ground to Hoole Coronation Playing Fields.
September
Crossway FC 2nd Team
are formed, and affiliated to the Merseyside Christian League (MCL) playing
‘friendly matches’ against MCL teams during the 1998/9 season.
The 2nd Team’s kit is purple shirts, white shorts and
socks (the old 1st Team one). The venue for home matches is Stanney High School,
Ellesmere Port.

1st Team are promoted to the
Queensferry Sports sponsored Premier Division.
September
Crossway Colts formed providing
football training for 7 to 11 year olds on Saturday mornings at St. James
Primary School in Hoole.
Crossway 2nd Team
join the Merseyside Christian League (MCL) playing in Division 2.

July
Dai Hughes and Simon Corner take
over as Joint Team Managers of the 1st Team.

2001
|
April
The 1st Team finish the season
in 5th place their highest ever position in the Premier Division
of the Chester & District Saturday League.
Crossway 2nds
finish
their second season in Division 2 of the MCL and decide to apply to join
the Chester & District Saturday League.
August
Ian ‘Moogie’ Dykes
is appointed Team Manager of the 2nd Team (renamed ‘Reserves’)
for the start of their campaign playing in the Chris Courtney-Williams
sponsored Division 2 of the Chester & District Saturday League. The
Reserves get a new kit for the start of the season, navy blue and white
hoop shirts, navy blue shorts and socks. The venue for home matches changes
to Upton Recreation Centre.
September
The 1st Team resigns from the
Chester & District Saturday League. The 1st Team and Reserves Team
players are merged into one team playing in Division 2 as Crossway FC.

Crossway’s football sessions on the floodlit astroturf at Upton
Recreation Centre.

Crossway FC Tour to Newport Pagnall / Milton Keynes.

10th Annual Charity Football
Tournament. Over £200 was raised and donated to the Mercy Ships
charity.

The changing facilities are
opened in the new Pavilion at Cheshire County Sports Club.

The new Pavilion Lounge Bar is
opened.
June
The 12th Crossway
Annual Charity 7-a-side Tournament is held on the Astroturf at Cheshire
County Sports Club. The Tournament had a ‘World Cup’ theme.
£240 was raise and donated equally between 2 charities; the Light
Project, and Mercy Ships.
The Chester & District
Saturday League is restructure to 3 Divisions for the 2006/7 season –
Crossway will play in Division 1 with 8 other teams; Ashton Lions, Bank of
Scotland, Barrow Athletic 1st, Bebington Athletic, Blacon YC
Colts, Cestrian Alex, Kelsall, Chester Nomads 3rds

Crossway FC reaches its first cup
final, losing 0-3 against Parkgate in the Cayzer Shield.
Second placed league finish
secures promotion to the Chester
and District Premier Division.

Crossway FC Code of Conduct
Crossway FC’s Code of Conduct
aims to be fully compatible with the FIFA Code of Conduct (1).
Our Code of Conduct applies to
the players, club officials and supporters of Crossway FC as they play,
manage and/or support the club.
Our Code of Conduct is applicable to all age groups and in the case of
youth sides is equally applicable to parents/guardians as they support their
children.
Playing the Game
·
Abide
by the laws of Association Football at all times
·
All
are encouraged NOT to swear or blaspheme
·
Play
to win and accept victory with humbleness
·
Play
fair and accept defeat with good grace
·
Respect
the ruling of the match official
·
Show
respect to your team-mates, the opposition and all spectators
·
Reject
Corruption, Drugs, Racism, Violence and Bullying, and always encourage others
to do the same
Playing for Crossway FC
·
Respect
the decisions of the club officials including the team managers/coaches
·
Respond
promptly when asked to confirm availability for selection
·
Pay
playing fees on time
·
Respect
the resources (kit, footballs, etc. provided by the club) and the facilities
provided for playing and changing
·
Any
player who is booked or sent off will pay any fines imposed on him by the
Chester & District (Saturday) Football League/Cheshire FA or any other
league/cup in which the club participates
·
A
Player must not play for another team in any of the Chester & District
(Saturday) Football League’s three Divisions whilst registered as a
Crossway player. A player can request a Transfer from October onwards but
MUST NOT register for their new team until the Transfer has been sanctioned
by the League. Players that break this rule risk being fined and/or suspended
by Chester & District (Saturday) Football League.
The Club Committee holds the
right to suspend any player who repeatedly breaks the Code of Conduct.
In addition Club Officials shall:

Always
conduct themselves so as not to abuse their position of authority
·
Always
comply with the Club Constitution
·
Always
comply with the Club Child Protection Policy
·
Always
comply with the rules of the Chester
and District (Saturday) Football League/Cheshire FA or any other league/cup
in which the club participates
·
Seek
to make Crossway FC an inclusive club that provides opportunities for people
to play football regardless of age, race, gender or ability
·
Give
honour to God.

Crossway Football Club
Constitution
1. Name:
·
The name of the club is Crossway Football Club.
2. Aim:
·
To reach those involved in the local sporting community for Christ.
·
To be a Christian football club, which will be a witness to
the Gospel.
·
To bring glory to God.
3.
Objectives:
·
To play league football which will give glory to God and positively influence
those on our side and against whom we play, who do not know the Lord.
·
To form new relationships with people through football which
would lead to them coming to know the Lord.
·
To give a positive experience of Christianity to anyone who will come into
the Club.
·
To give God the best in winning and losing.
4.
Accountability:
·
The Club is an extension of the ministry of Hoole Baptist Church (HBC), Queen
Street Christian Centre (QSCC) and Waverton Evangelical Fellowship (WEF).
·
The Committee will meet once a year with a representative from the Elders of
these churches.
·
An Elder from each of the churches will be invited to attend the AGM and each
Committee meeting.
5.
Organisation and Decision Making:
·
The day to day running of the Club rests with the Committee. However the
Committee can not make decisions that effect the Constitution of the Club.
Any decisions to change the Constitution can only be made at the AGM.
6. The
Committee (must consist of at least):
·
Chairperson (a Church Elder)
·
Club Secretary
·
Club Treasurer
·
Team Manager
·
A representative from the 3 churches (if not already holding one of the above
positions).
·
Any person can be on the Committee with the recommendation of 2 existing
Committee Members.
·
The Committee will normally meet 4 times a year.
·
The Committee will make decisions on the following basis:
·
Each member has one vote.
·
A simple majority vote will carry a decision.
·
In the event of an equal vote, the Chairperson will have the casting vote.
·
No one person can hold more than one of the following positions on the
Committee at any one time: Chairperson, Club Treasurer, Club Secretary.
·
The accounts of the Club shall be audited annually, and submitted to the
churches.
